124 km, 189 m total ascent, 32°C maximum. Overcast most of the day. The headwind that was projected to arrive towards the end of the day showed up early (before lunch) to plague us until our arrival at camp.
We rode through a patch of palm trees, not seen recently.
Slight variation from the digits dialed in the USA.
All through Africa, exploded truck tires litter the road side everywhere. There was an especially bad concentration of this road debris on the Elephant Highway between Kasane and Nata. There were large chunks of tire at least every kilometer along the way. I would estimate semi-trucks comprise at least 80% of the traffic on that road.
We were blessed with several elephant sightings today; a very large bull elephant crossing the road in front of Linda.
Another elephant in the bush only about 100 m away from the road.
Although the distance ridden was not great today, it was quite challenging because it was hard to go above 16 km/hr.
Our primitive campsite today is a big open space in the bushveld.
Blazing sunset at camp today.
