Our late afternoon plan was to take a Nile felucca ride. These graceful wooden boats with all cotton sails, have been on the Nile since antiquity.

Our felucca captain unfurling the sail.

This involved a climb almost all the way to the top of the mast.

The setting sun backlighting a felucca's elegant profile.

A view of the fully unfurled sail.

Tim enjoying a moment with the captain.

Hard to get a good picture with the setting sun casting shadows.

The felucca captain and his cousin, who ran the tiller/rudder the whole time.

After disembarking from the felucca, we wandered through the souk in search of dinner.

And we found it. Not pictured are the whole grilled tilapia that most of the group ordered.
Our friends who went today to Abu Simbel reported the site to be uncrowded and worth seeing. We have been informed that Egyptian tourism is contracted quite a bit due to the Israel – Gaza war, as well as the Houthi attacks.

Egypt certainly was rugged travel, hope you get to stay in hotels more often in Rawanda. Photos spectacular. Stay safe and healthy.
